How Auto Body Shops Work with Insurance Companies

From Claim to Repair: Insurance & Body Shops

When your car is damaged in an accident, one of the first questions that comes to mind is, “Will my insurance cover this?” At Victory Auto Body and Paint in Burbank, California, we work with all major insurance companies to help streamline the repair process for our customers. Here's a breakdown of how that works—and what you should expect.

Understanding the Relationship
Auto body shops and insurance companies often have long-standing relationships. Some shops are part of what’s called a Direct Repair Program (DRP), meaning they’re pre-approved by insurers to handle certain claims. While you’re not required to use a DRP shop, it can help speed up the repair process. Victory Auto Body and Paint welcomes all insurance work—whether we're a preferred shop or not.

The Estimate Process
Once your vehicle arrives at our facility, we begin by conducting a thorough inspection and preparing a detailed estimate. This estimate is either submitted to your insurance company directly or reviewed alongside theirs. Sometimes the insurance company will send an adjuster to inspect the vehicle, while in other cases, everything is handled digitally.

Supplement Requests
It’s common for additional damage to be found once repairs begin. If we discover something that wasn’t visible during the initial inspection (like frame damage or internal issues), we’ll file a supplement with your insurance provider. This ensures the added repairs are approved and covered before we move forward.

Your Rights as the Vehicle Owner
Many customers don’t realize they have the right to choose their repair shop. Insurance companies may recommend certain facilities, but the final decision is yours. At Victory, we encourage you to go with a shop that you trust—one that communicates clearly, uses high-quality parts, and stands behind its work.

What We Do for You
Our team works directly with your insurer to handle paperwork, approvals, and updates—so you don’t have to. We also make sure that your vehicle is repaired to OEM standards and returned to you in pre-accident condition.

Final Thoughts
Navigating insurance claims can be frustrating, especially after an accident. At Victory Auto Body and Paint, our mission is to take that stress off your plate. From handling the insurance process to delivering top-tier repairs, we’re here to help you every step of the way.
