How Long Should Auto Body Repairs Take?

Estimating Auto Body Repair Duration

One of the most common questions we hear at Victory Auto Body and Paint is, “How long will my repair take?” While we always aim for speed and efficiency, the truth is that auto body repair timelines can vary based on several factors.

Whether you’ve been in a minor fender bender or a major collision, here’s what affects how long your vehicle will be in the shop—and what you can expect.

1. Extent of the Damage
The most obvious factor is how much damage your car has sustained. Small scratches or dent repairs might only take 1–3 days, while more serious structural damage or multi-panel repairs can stretch to 2–3 weeks or longer.

2. Parts Availability
If replacement parts are needed, your repair timeline will depend on how quickly we can get them. OEM parts (Original Equipment Manufacturer) sometimes have longer wait times than aftermarket options. For rare or luxury vehicles, parts may need to be shipped from out of state—or even internationally.

3. Insurance Approval
When insurance is involved, every step requires authorization. After we send your initial estimate, we wait for approval. If additional damage is discovered mid-repair, we file a supplement and must wait again. Victory Auto Body and Paint works hard to keep this process moving fast—but sometimes delays are beyond our control.

4. Type of Repair Required
Different repair tasks take different amounts of time:
  • Paintless dent repair: 1–2 days
  • Bumper replacement and repaint: 2–4 days
  • Structural/frame repair: 5–10 days
  • Full collision repair with paint: 7–14+ days
We always give you a realistic time estimate after inspecting the damage.

5. Workload and Scheduling
During busy seasons—especially after rainstorms or holidays—we may have a high volume of vehicles in the shop. We schedule repairs efficiently, but certain jobs require specialized technicians or equipment that may need to be reserved in advance.

Final Thoughts
At Victory Auto Body and Paint, our goal is to restore your vehicle quickly without compromising quality. We’ll keep you updated throughout the process and let you know immediately if anything changes. And when your vehicle is ready, it’ll leave our shop looking like new.
