A Brief History of Mazda
Mazda’s journey began in 1920 in Hiroshima, Japan, originally as Toyo Cork Kogyo Co., a company that manufactured machine tools. It wasn’t until 1931 that Mazda produced its first vehicle—a three-wheeled truck called the Mazda-Go. The name "Mazda" was officially adopted in 1984, inspired by Ahura Mazda, the god of harmony, intelligence, and wisdom in Zoroastrianism.

Mazda quickly gained global recognition for its commitment to engineering excellence and innovative design. One of its most iconic milestones was the introduction of the rotary engine, which became a hallmark of Mazda’s uniqueness and performance focus. Vehicles like the RX-7 and MX-5 Miata cemented Mazda’s reputation for creating fun-to-drive cars that didn’t sacrifice reliability or efficiency.

Today, Mazda is known for its “KODO – Soul of Motion” design philosophy and its SKYACTIV® technology, blending performance with environmental sustainability. At Victory Auto Body and Paint in Burbank, we are proud to be a Mazda-certified collision repair center, following factory repair procedures and using OEM parts to restore your vehicle to manufacturer standards. Whether you drive a Mazda3, CX-5, or MX-5, your vehicle is in expert hands.
